The meaning of the carnelian necklace

Blood red in color, carnelian is the stone of royalty, luck and sex.

Considered “the stone of kings,” carnelian was believed by the Romans to be a stone of courage, able to shore up confidence and strength.

Used for cameos in antiquity, carnelians have been used by modern luxury jewelry designers for centuries alongside precious gems.

Cartier made this Art Deco era (circa 1930) carnelian, pearl, and diamond brooch, pairing semi-precious carnelian and pearl with diamonds. (The back is platinum and 18 karat white gold.)

Carnelian is also associated with the solar plexus chakra, connected with self-confidence and control, and is a perfect gift for new beginnings, sad times, or when a burst of energy is needed.

This Cartier brooch would give me a boost for real.

The meaning of moonstone jewelry

Moonstones are best known for their connection to womanhood and to femininity, including includes fertility and the cyclical nature of change.

Called “moonstone,” its pearlescent, color-changing sheen looks like the stone has harnessed the light of the moon.

Originally a gift to newly wedded couples because of its association with sensuality and fertility, it’s now a common gift for brides, for the same reason.

Some moonstones have more of a rainbow inside them than others. Every stone is different, so it’s difficult to find a perfect match when making earrings. (This is why I don’t sell many moonstone earrings anymore.)

French designer René-Jules Lalique incorporated moonstones into his jewelry designs during the early 1900s.

This moonstone necklace by Lalique, called “Snowberries,” is dated to 1903

Lalique paved the way for moonstone jewelry , and making every moonstone piece a historical reminder of the Art Nouveau period.

When paired with sexy carnelian, the feminine moonstone meets its match.
